Wood, Wood,, And more wood

We met a couple in Central that have become very close friends. Fred and Judy are awesome!! Fred has a sawmill and has cut all the lumber that we have needed so far for the addition. In the pic to the right you can see the used lumber that I used to frame the 14x20 room on the back which will be the master bedroom. Again, the lumber for that room was part of the property when we bought the site. I have that floor framed as well, and all tied together with the other part but forgot to get a pic of it all done.
So the original cabin is 20x32 not including the deck. That is 640 sq ft. We are adding a utility room  [for batteries, water tank and pumps, charge controllers and control panels, etc.]. That room is a 12x16 for 192 sq ft.  That center section is an entry and washer and dryer room. We will enter the house from here. That room is a 12x15 for an additional 180 sq ft. And the last room on the side is Lories work room. this room I am not allowed in lol. I think it has something to do with crafts and jewelry and stuff.  this room is a 12x14 for another 168 sq ft. and then the room on the back or end, how ever you look at it, is a 14x20 Master bedroom for 280 sq ft
A total of 820 sq ft of addition  Should makes us a nice retirement home!!!!

And so it begins!!!!

Work on the addition has begun. We are actually a little ahead of schedule. We had planned to only be up to the cabin for one week and the plan was to do the foundation work and to go back on the 25th an do the floor framing but we took two weeks and got the foundation done and the floor framed.

So let me describe the foundation. Our cabin is built on a schist rock pad that is different then most Alaska tundra.  So we don't have the settling as bad as others. We bought 8 12x12x20 ft beams with the property. You can see one in the pic. So after a couple of days of manual labor lol, I was able to get them set. We used a product called Copper Green to stain and protect them.
