Sometimes it's No Fun.

The Back Room

So, then we decided that before the snow flies we could get one of the rooms in the back closed in.

You can sorta see how this room back in there  started out.

The Wood Stove

After we got all the OSB on the walls Raz and I put in the stove and pipes.

See how the stove started out all rusty?

Now it looks all new.

The black behind the stove is a piece of sheet metal Raz found in the yard.  We will tile later.

Inside the cabin . . . so far.

I should have taken pictures of the inside when we first opened it up.  The cabin had ben unused for a number of years and the squirrels had moved in.  The place was completely taken over and although we didn't find any living squirrels on the indide there was a massive amount of droppings . . . Everywhere.  Our first visit up I couldn't even be in the cabin, the air was that bad.  We got it all cleaned out later and I was happy when Raz got all the osb on the walls.

After OSB

So, now the cabin is at least comfortable to stay in while we work on it.  This is just the front room of the existing build.  There are 2 rooms in the back also but they are not yet insulated so we are using them to store tools in.

lots and lots of carribou

The Wash

This is a snippet of the wash back behind our property a ways.  It is a constant flow of clean spring water and snow melt coming off the mountains behind us.  The water runs under the plant life.

Running the Dogs

Brodie and Titus are litter brothers. Titus belongs to Kelly but he hangs with our pack a lot of the time.

The Moose on the Loose.

The Great Gray Owl.

The guys who come out monthly to read the power meter told us that a great gray owl could often be seen camped out in our porch rafters.  We saw him a couple of times.  He's massive.

They are the largest of the owls.  Thier wing span can be 5 feet.  I would say sounds about right judging by the poopie left behind....about the size of a sandwich plate.  Well, he won't be bunking in the rafters anymore.
